Do you know that personal care products are made up of 80% to 95% water? Water is an inexpensive filler that is readily available from the tap.

1. Our powder is a concentrate, without water fillers
Conventional brands add water to liquid products, and the water does not enhance the formula in anyway. On the contrary, you need a larger quantity of liquid for a single wash, because it has been diluted by water.

BHUMAN uses proprietary Waterless Tech™ to create a pure powder concentrate. You end up paying only for the ingredients, not cheap water fillers.


2. Powder is 90% lower in CO2 emissions
Water is heavy to transport. According to the US EPA, transportation mainly comes from burning fossil fuels in cars, trucks, ships, trains, and planes. It is the #1 contributor to CO2 emissions.

When you wash, you still need to use water to wet your hair or skin to lather the product.

Why then are brands shipping water – the #ingredient in most liquid personal care – in single-use plastics around the world to us? This simply didn’t make sense to us.

The shelf life is 24 months after opening. For best results, keep the bottle in a dry and cool environment so the contents remain fresh and dry.

Essential oils

It is generally recommended to avoid certain essential oils during pregnancy. We recommend consulting with your doctor to ensure the products you use are safe to use during pregnancy.

The powder works best being activated between wet hands, then used on very wet skin or hair.

Mixing water with the powder in the bottle won’t get you a liquid product and over time it would create a ripe environment for bacteria, yeast, and mold to grow. ​

Aluminum is an infinitely recyclable material.

In some areas where we have refillery partners, and the bulk refill is available in powder format, you can head to that retail partner with your clean and dry bottle to refill the bottle. You can reuse the bottle again and again.

Disassemble and keep the flip cap, it can be reused. You can simply toss your aluminum bottle into your curbside recycling bin, along with other aluminum soda cans.

This is how it works.

Step 1. Pour out 0.5 grams of BCLEAN onto one palm, the same quantity as a pinch of salt.

Step 2. Run some water and wet your other palm.

Step 3. Rub your hands together and the powder will transform into a light lather.

Step 4. Apply to your face, wash and rinse. It’s that easy.

Do not run tap water into the powder directly. The high-pressure water will wash the powder into the sink, wasting the high-quality ingredient.

Each bottle comes with a reusable EasyPour™ flip cap.

1. Always start with a wet face.

2. Flip open the EasyPour™ flip cap, pour out 0.5 grams (1 shake or the same quantity as a pinch
of salt) onto a wet palm.

3. Wet the other palm. Rub your hands together to water-activate the powder. The powder will magically transform into a light lather.

4. Apply the foam gently to the face. Use a foaming net if desired to create more foam.

5. Double cleanse if needed.

0.5g is equivalent to a pea-size, similar to a pinch of salt.

This is an FDA-approved everyday gentle skincare cleanser that is pH balanced. It is lab tested to be between pH 5 and 6, which means it is a low pH cleanser and leans acidic. It is good for all skin types, including sensitive skin.

Our skin is exposed to more and more pollution, especially if you live in the city, and pollution can wreak havoc on your skin.

Using this gentle yet effective cleanser means you do not irritate your skin barrier or disturb the skin acid mantle. Some of us are trained to think squeaky clean skin is good, but it is not. Those cleansers overclean and strip your skin barrier over time, making you more prone to sensitivity and breakouts.

Honestly, what makes cleansers foam up is the run-of-the-mill common surfactants - surfactants is short for ‘surface active agents’. The most common ones are sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) and sodium laureth ether sulfate (SLES). These surfactant ingredients provide high foaming and that super ‘clean’ feel immediately after use – think of tight, shiny skin.

The problem is they tend to strip the skin’s natural lipid barrier, resulting in an increased in water evaporation. With less exterior protection, it leads to dryness. They are just too efficient at removing oils from your skin. Dryness will exacerbate aging and irritation and can lead to fine lines and acne over time.

Each bamboo bottle is approximately 10cm high and 4cm in diameter. It fits snugly in your palm.

Each bamboo bottle contains 10g or approximately 20 washes.
Each aluminum refill bottle contains 30g or approximately 60 washes.

Depending on the climate, the environment you live in, and personal preferences, how long it lasts will vary. If you are used to washing your face once a day in the evenings before you head to bed, how long it lasts will be longer. If you wash your face twice or more a day, it will run out quicker.

Each bamboo bottle is hand crafted. At BHUMAN, we design our bottles to look exquisite on your bathroom counter (in the perfect size so you do not have to deal with the hassle of decanting before hopping on the plane, or worry about leaks) so that you would want to reuse it forever!

If you choose not to reuse it, we hope you will repurpose it for other uses. The bottle not only has a functional role, it also speaks to your values.

We care about sustainability, and when we started the journey two years ago, we looked into Ocean Waste Plastics (OWP), Sugarcane plastics etc.

After looking at the minimum quantities needed (100,000 units for OWP when we last checked!) coupled with the carbon
footprint of shipping that sustainable packaging from source coutries (Europe, South America, Australia) to be filled at our preferred lab... and then shipped to you, we did not think it makes sense from an overall environmental footprint
point of view. 

This is why we picked bamboo. 

Bamboo is such an amazing plant. It is available in many parts of the world. It is a highly renewable resource – did you know it is the world’s fastest-growing plant? It matures in 3-5 years compared to regular trees which would take 40-60 years.

It also produces 35% more oxygen than trees, and also absorb up to 12 tons of carbon dioxide per hectare, helping to
stabilize our polluted atmosphere. Simply stated, bamboo is the perfect packaging material for BHUMAN’s brand positioning related to climate change.

Here is a peek behind the “bamboo curtain” on our process:
After the handcrafting process, a layer of emulsion is applied to each bottle. It is exposed to light which hardens the emulsion. Next, we apply a silk print design onto the bamboo packaging. The packaging passes through light and a dryer, which “cures” the emulsion and the ink, creating a smooth lasting protective coat. The packaging is checked and washed to remove any residue, before being sent to the labs for filling. In short, unless you use a sharp object to scratch the primer or the silk print, the bottle will last.

Have you heard of bamboo scaffolding? Hong Kong, a former British colony, continues to use bamboo to build skyscrapers.

We wanted to make the product priced as affordably as possible to more people and made the conscious decision to produce it at a lab that is certified GMP, ISO 9001, and ISO22716 in Thailand.

BCLEAN has a very light lavender scent (Lavandula Angustifolia Oil at 0.2% of the total vegan ingredient list). After washing, there is no lingering scent on your face, so you do not need to worry it will clash with your perfumes or creams.

A funny thing we noticed when we did product in-home testing, is that the moment our excited consumers receive the products, they automatically take a sniff at the product.

Please do not smell the powder – it will get into your nose! You can enjoy this pampering, sensorial experience as you lather the cleanser on your face.

This plant-based cleanser is gender neutral,
similar to cleansers found at brands such as LUSH, Muji, The Body Shop and

Our goal is to reduce single-plastics whenever possible, wherever possible. When we did our in-home testing without the flip caps, we received feedback that the bottleneck is too wide, and it is easy to waste the powder formula during use. There was quite a bit of accidental overpours etc.

We spent months - we are not exaggerating - looking for caps, from calling a company that had just the right size in the UK, to sourcing it from Thailand, to trying to get caps custom made in Singapore.

This is our solution at this stage. We will use a market-ready plastic easy-pour cap (phew, that description was quite the mouthful). The reason is because this allows us as a startup to have low MOQ and lower cost for our customers - which is honestly what we are able to do at this point.

Each easy-pour plastic caps can be unscrewed and reused for subsequent bottles. Without the plastic flip-cap, you can recycle the aluminum bottles easily.

We know that as a startup, we are by no means perfect. We sincerely believe that by making refills available, more consumers – including those who are just starting to live more sustainably – can join our #bhumantribe journey to reduce single-use waste.

Vegan or 100% plant-based skincare contains a lot fewer ingredients than regular items you see on the beauty shelves, making them ideal for sensitive or acne-prone skin.

Animal ingredients can be harsh and clog pores, so vegan products are a soothing alternative. Your skin will thrive off being fed natural, vegan ingredients.

Each bottle comes with a reusable EasyPour™ flip cap. For your first use, remember to replace the aluminum screw cap with the EasyPour™ flip cap.

1. Always start with very wet hair.

2. Flip open the EasyPour™ flip cap, you only need a few shakes to wash your hair:

- 2 shakes (0.5 grams) for short hair
- 4 shakes (1g) for shoulder length hair
- 6 shakes (1.5g to 2g) for thick long hair

3. Activate the powder between your wet palms and apply it to drenched hair. For more lather, add more water to hair.

Our 50 grams bottle can last up to 50 washes, which means you only need to buy a new bottle every 1.5 to 2 months.

Most liquid shampoos are 250ml to 500ml (8 fluid oz to 16 fluid oz) which last for 1 to 2 months. The general rule of thumb is 100ml of liquid shampoo lasts for 10 washes.

That’s why we received the third-party certification for “Compact by Design” and “Climate Pledge Friendly”. Our unit efficiency is superior and helps reduce greenhouse emissions by at least 90%.

Yes, it is made for everyone. Even though it has not been tested as a tear-free formula, it is also suitable for children - under adult supervision.

Always store out of reach of children and close the cap tightly after use. Store in a cool, dry place.

No, it is not. This is a water-activated powder to lather shampoo. It lathers and washes like any other liquid hair wash on wet hair.

If you have color-treated hair, try to avoid shampoos with sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) and sodium laureth sulfate (SLES). These surfactants are very effective at cleaning with SLS being stronger.

As with great cleansers, they remove the free lipids present in the hair's intercuticular layers. Once this protective hydrophobic layer is gone, water penetrates the hair, and the result is faster color loss.

Sulfates shampoos can contribute to faster color loss. Our shampoos are free of SLS and SLES. Our coconut-based
surfactants mild so the color loss rate is slower. There really is no such thing as a “color safe” shampoo because as long as water is involved, fading will occur.

Our tip is to double cleanse each time, so you thoroughly remove any scalp build-up. This allows you to stretch out the time between hair washes, which in turn, allows your color-treated hair to last longer.
